Light switch taken apart. It is pretty simple really, the brass piece has fangs on it that fit into the slots on the black plastic and one is bigger than the other 2. Remove the 3 screws and there ya go.

Very similar to the switch at the combo rear light (http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=91024&hilit=+light).

So I should save it in the toolbox and get one for like a 140 or 100 or something, can do that too!
That is what I would do. You can always re-use the original knob so it "looks original". You can even get one for a later model Cub that didn't use the switch to control the charge rate. (ie. 1951, 1952, 1953 models, etc.)

Got my seat back from being burnt off and sand blasted. Had a few small cracks where it was spot welded.

After grinding weld off. Primer is wet is why it's so shiny.

Just use your original switch. I have yet to see "change the light switch" in anybody's list of steps for a 12 volt conversion.

This is what I was hoping to do from the beginning. What do I do just hook my 12V + wire to the fuse screw (input) and rear light to the rear light screw and front light to the front light screw and forget about the resistor? I don't care about the low/high beam anyway. As long as the lights come on when I turn the switch is all I am after.

Re: Restoration Project - Four digit Cub
yes that is correct. It will work but like others said that switch could be used as iintended on another cub if you choose to sell it and buy a "correct" one.

That will work. If you add a jumper wire between the 2 terminals that originally held the dimmer resistor, both the "L" and "H" positions will then be "H". Without adding the jumper, the "L" position will be rear light only. Your choice on what you want the "L" position to become.

Thanks Jim! I will probably wire it where I can have rear light only, that way I can turn the red light on and nothing else if I need to.
