One tire off, tube has a date of 1985 on it. Amazingly the wheel looks great on the inside.

You can get the square head rim bolts from a JD dealer (part # 08h4465) for about $2.00 @ vs. $5.00 @ from Case/IH. However, I almost expect to see a picture where you've welded up and turned down the shanks! :D

That almost sounds like a dare, lol. I don't know what I am gonna do yet, make new ones out of stainless or buy some new ones, thanks for the info. I have a friend who is a mechanic at Deere and I will get him to check on 8 of them for me.

Been working on front end for a few weeks off and on. Got my gaskets made, new thrush washer turned and front section primed. I'm almost ready to put this part back together.

Why not do, at least, one to prove you can do it. :) :) Seriously, I'm impressed with your skills and attention to detail.

Thank you Bill for your kind words. My attention to detail sometimes is too much I think but you only live once and if you can't do your best then why do it is what I say.

Got a new 1/4" woodruff key for the steering knuckle because the 3/16" one was worn and the key way in the knuckle itself was worn about .010". I opened the keyways up to 1/4" with a key seat cutter and a broach. Now it's tight as it was new. If anyone is wondering how keyways are cut here you go.

Never a doubt in my mind that you could do it, and do it well. Keep up the good work. Oh, I need to move in real close.

I am really enjoying following this thread, perhaps the subject should be changed in case others don't realize a master craftsman is doing a first class restoration. The talented people on this forum is really amazing!

Thanks for taking time to document your great work and share with us,
David

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! God has blessed me with many talents, it is nice working in a machine shop where we have a lot of tools that people with a shop at home don't have or have access to. I always tell people there are only 2 things I won't try to work on/fix and that is automatic transmissions and air conditioners.
