The stuff on the screen looks like rust but turns out it's silicone from where someone put the head back on sometime ago. Got it all off and made a reinforcement for the inside and wrapped some screen around it and inside it. I been thinking about it, it's a closed system so nothing should get in it, most of my original screen is still there and it's clean inside. We'll give it a try.

I see you have the machining plugs (inside and out) installed. Did you remove them for cleaning/flushing? Also, the pressure relief valve, which is deep down inside the block? You probably already put them back in for the photo, but just in case, removing them does allow more flushing...so just checking!

This thread is certainly a good one!! Thanks!

That hardened pin is really easy to break. Made a new one out of 316 stainless so it should be good for a long time.

Thank you! When my kids get big enough to help so they will appreciate it more. Right now they climb on it and I don't care if it gets scratched :D

I don't have a helper spring for this hitch but I have one on Walt. Took it off and decided to make everything but the spring, I can get a spring easier than a complete helper unit. I installed the helper spring on this one and will get a spring sometime and put it back on Walt.

Made the rod out of 3/4" cold rolled and got a 1 1/8" bolt and drilled it out and welded it on.
