Pulled the finals off the short side today to replace brakes on 64 Cub, everything came apart ok. The brake rod and turn buckle naturally were frozen in place so in the process of cleaning threads and getting everything loose and workable.
What would cause the brake linings to wear (down to rivets) on one side closest to where it pins to rocker, but only one side the further you away from it they look like no wear at all.
Only thing I can think of is turn buckles, rods, and actuator were frozen but I defer to the resident experts
Thanks

Re: Brake wear question
In my experience, they wear unevenly. I think it's just due to the design, with all the tightening on one side, whereas, auto brakes are more evenly tightened.

Re: Brake wear question
I have to pull mine off the 67 Loboy as well.
Those brake bands were put on new quite a few years ago, and have squealed ever since, and getting worse.
One thing I noticed when I got the new set is that the steel band was a heavier gauge than original, but the length was the same, which resulted in a 'too tight' fit from the get-go.
I had hoped it would get better as they wore but it has only gotten worse.
