demo cub value

Postby Rob in NH » Fri Feb 12, 2016 3:58 pm

I was wondering what the value of a demo is today, i've been reading up on older threads about this and was wondering if anyone thought the values have changed.

I paid $400, but I saved it from a boat ride to China. Would have been a shelf of vises, at HF, by now, if I hadn't rescued it!

If anything, values have or will shortly drop. Looks like we are in the beginning of a world wide recession.

It should be worth more than a 1950 that isn't a demo. Why not? Put them in the same category as a very early 47, or a red long stripe.

I can't wait to see Ed's freshly painted Demo, after the nice paint job and Ed's fine tuning should be worth many times more than he bought it for. Worth a lot more than my decent red 1950

Weren't nicely restored documented demos going for $4000 plus a few years ago?

Well this much I know. Owning and operating a Cub is because you want to and I found no amount of rationalization held up to clear thinking. If I wanted to rationalize a cub as an investment I would have better luck owning swamp land in Florida. Love and enjoy my cubs and am looking forward to seeing your finished Demo and more forum information on projects from fellow cub addicted finger bashers. Thank you all!

your cub , my money ! so many factors , individuals opinions , what part of the country , ect.......so far , the most i have ever paid is $ 1200 for an almost '79 in great shape ( my early cub days ) , and the least , $160 for a '64 non-runner that needed points only ! (and is my strongest cub) . Hi-Crop non runner $ 250  , $ 500 for a "trimmed dash" non-runner that ended up only needing a carb . BUT : i watch craislist regularly , and PATIENTLY . plenty of $2300-$3000 cubs out there . coppersmythe.......................................PS: restored cubs , in my opinion are in a different category . they should command more $$$ than a " working cub " . PPS : read eds below , very true , if you know the rebuilder well !

Trouble with buying a restored cub, is you don't know how restored, it actually is!
