Re: Carburetor Inlet
The thread is a standard 1/2 20. Go to your auto parts store and they should have the ferule and the nut. I believe the ferule is 5/16.

Re: Carburetor Inlet
5/16 steel brake line and nut/ferule is the right size and thread count. A good hardware store will have the ferule also. Just be careful about cross threading the connection, if it gets stripped out you will have to get it helicoiled or fab an adapter. Check the "HOW TO" forum for some ideas. Good Luck, Stan

Re: Carburetor Inlet
This is all assuming the inlet is original and has not had a barbed fitting with a 1/8th inch pipe thread forced into it at one time to accept a rubber hose. If that happens you will need to helicoil it to work.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Carburetor Inlet
Believe it or not, these are a little difficult to find. Regular compression fittings from most hardware stores will not work. Most of the ferrules are too long and the nut won't start in the threads of the carb. You must have the special design. I have found these available from Parker hose fittings 61HD-5. I ordered a bunch from MSC Industrial Supply while back. They were $1.63 each. Cheapest supplier I could find.

Here is the correct fitting with the CIH PN shown.

I personally think it's bad form to recommend an alternate source for something when using a site sponsors picture (and without any credit to them for the picture) in the recommendation. We're talking a savings of eighty six cents here. I think having TM's support for the site and the resource of their parts listing and pictures is worth that. Obviously you used it.
http://www.tmtractor.com/new/fl/512fp.htm
The bigger message here is we all need to stop and think how and where we spend our money. All of the made in China, inferior quality, Walmart ran the mom and pop businesses out of downtown etc arguments really start with an individual person deciding where and how to spend their money. It's made in China because we buy it because it's cheaper, we accept the inferior quality because it's cheaper, we stopped going to the little store downtown because it was "more convenient" to go to Walmart and make only one stop instead of three or four.
I'm not against saving money, but I try to take the fringe benefits into consideration that go along with my purchase.

Re: Carburetor Inlet
The correct police won't approve it but if you've got 20 minutes, a brass 5/16 compression union with nuts/ferules and a 1/2 X 20 die nut you can re-thread one side to make a fitting that will work. It will seal in the the carb threads with a bit of pipe sealer or JB WELD on the threads and the remaining ferule/nut will connect your 5/16 fuel line. All the parts are at any good hardware store. Curious to know if the fitting is 1/2 X 20 thread? If the standard shipping price ($12) is added is added in, it's not cost effective. If the thread is not correct for the carb, an adapter will still be needed or re-thread the carb inlet. Either way if the threads are bad in the carb, helicoil or a fitting that can be installed and left in place is needed.

Yes, the thread is 1/2-20. When I bought mine, I ordered 100 fittings and some other stuff. So an $0.80 savings per piece easily covered the shipping and then some. The other option is to go to your IH dealer with the part number shown in the photo.

Re: Carburetor Inlet
Found that 5/16 tubing nut EDELMANN part number 111500 is available at my local auto parts store. A bit more expensive but less than freight from ordering if you only need one.

You will notice in the Edelmann part number differs from the Parker part quite a bit where it seals. I have tried this type before and found they wont seal in a carb or other places the Parker design was intended.
