Re: My new (old) loboy
Boys and Girls,
I am in need of the hydraulic pump for Daisy. It's suckinmg air thru the front seal/bearing and won't make pressure.
Suggestions?http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/posting.php?mode=reply&f=1&t=90823#
Thanks,
Pear

Looking good! Looks like she sported a front mounted Blade at some point in its life. (may be where you found the tractor?) Was the radiator beyond repair? Some would prefer a good repaired radiator to a new one. You might be able to sell and reinvest in your tractor. Many of us (especially Raymond) would like to know your casting numbers!

Re: My new (old) loboy
Did you rebuild the pump when you rebuilt the TC block? Hydraulic fluid leaking into the crankcase is the normal pump problem. I haven't heard anyone describe a pump problem as "sucking air". Did you cycle the TC 10-12 times to remove air in the lines and then check fluid level in the block?

Re: My new (old) loboy
No I did not rebuild the pump and yes I did cycle it MANY times. I also checked at the port plugs for pressure, zero. It was flowing Hyd. oil, but full of air bubbles. My friend who does a lot of tractor work suggested that if the front seal is bad, the rotary gears can pull air in , and maybe hyd.oil into the crankcase.
I think that may be happening since my dipstick reads slightly over full.
So basically I am getting flow, no pressure and tiny bubbles in hyd. oil.

Re: My new (old) loboy
Daisy update. All the parts are cleaned up now. The last thing I did was dismantle rear wheels , clean and paint. Waiting for new rim/hub bolts since many were pretty bad.
Back to the hydraulics: I took apart the touch control again and found a wave washer had slipped and got crushed. So I redid all the assembly VERY carefully and shot air in the oil feed port and Voila! the ram extended and retracted as it should when I switched the valve lever. O Happy. Put on tractor, bled system and it went up and down once and never again. I removed the oil lines from the pump and blocked the pressure line with my thumb and just cranked the starter. I can stop the flow with my thumb, so now I suspect the hyd. pump spacers are shot and the oil is just running around the gears.
That;'s next as soon as the pump kit arrives.
O I also replaced the center section that was cracked at the transmission end. I guess someone had yanked stumps or something with the tractor and cracked around the 4 bolts. They nickel welded it but didn't hold. I lucked out and got a nice center section for $50 with pedals, etc. While there I replace the rear main seal and trans seal.Inspected the clutch and it was new, not even fully seated in.Score!
Almost time for updated picture.
Someone wanted the serial number .It is 530J.
I wish I had more land to use this for something, but all I can think of is making a drag to knock down gopher holes and ride around with Grand kids.It would be nice to find a PTO chipper, but it just isn't much h.p............

Re: My new (old) loboy
Daisy update:
Center section replaced, clutch checked, brake linkage freed up, new rear seal, new trans input seal. Rear section cleaned and painted. All electrics working. Runs well.
However, STILL CANT GET HYDRAULICS WORKING! Touch control worked on bench, installed worked once then quit./ I rechecked pump and installed new thrust washers. Nothing. My Theory is one of the shuttle valves is stuck and pressure is just returning in a loop.
Any ideas?
