Ready for parade

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Mon Nov 23, 2015 4:52 pm

We have 3 different towns in this area that have night time Christmas parades. I try to make at least 2 of them, but due to health I will probably only make the local one on Dec. 3. I took advantage of the nice days we have had to design and build my rig, leaving a place for a couple kids that are planning to ride with me. It was a lot easier to get lighting for a picture inside the shed than outside. They don't show up very well in the picture, but all the lights on the tractor are red, except for the tree on the front.

Forgot to mention, I had a problem with Shakey (shivering Polar bear). When I first plugged him in he went extreme conservative, leaning pretty far to the right. I got out some baler string, and on the second try I turned him into a liberal, finally on the third try I made him into a moderate (upright in the middle).

Very Nice John! I bet the kids get a real kick out of it.
I have to ask...how do you power up the 110? small generator?

Bruce.

I have a small 1200 watt Powermate generator hooked to it right now, but I have an inverter that is beg enough to power it, just need to dig through my stuff and see if I have a battery or two with enough current to handle the parade. If it weren'[r for the blower in the polar bear, an inverter and small battery would do it.

Didn't think I was going to make it in time for tonight's parade. Still not 100% sure if I was watching the parade or standing beside the highway as everybody was going to the parade. :D They was a movin' right along tonight, I think the marching band was trying out for the track team.

I'll let John explain his choice of driving position.

Been down sick for a week and half, and up til today I had not planned to go, but I finally decided to, but still had quite a bit of congestion, and my riders could not make it, so I just left it on the big trailer (sure is nice to have a big trailer I did not have to buy). It was about 35 at the time and I think I had the only tractor in the parade, along with the only polar bear, and both were a big hit with the kids. I had the window open and the heater cranked up, and was hearing a lot of comments about liking the tractor and the shivering bear. It has a swinging weight in the fan air stream that makes it shiver as if it is cold.

Congestion, hoarse, sore throat, all combined to make me pick that driving position.

I had to replace a couple of the bulbs in the polar bear. Not too big a deal, it has a zipper on the bottom that allows access to the inside, but somehow I was not happy sticking my hands up in the bears rear end, even through a zipper.
