hood design on old cub

Postby HART » Mon Nov 09, 2015 1:00 pm

I've always noticed that most CUB'S have a hood with 3 horizontal ridges on each side of hood . Instead,my '52 has a slightly recessed space about 18" long by approx 3" high and has a Int'l decal taped there. Is that the original hood?

No, the hood has been changed at one time. The old one may have been damaged earlier in its life and that was used as a replacement.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

Hi,
Here are 2 pages from the Cub parts book showing the 3 different styles of round nose Cubs. It gives the serial numbers when they were made. The first style was 1947-1954, the 2nd was 1954-1958, the 3rd was 1958-1964.
It's like styles of cars, sort of, they change them every few years.
The 1954-1958 style had metal names, not stickers. So did the 1958-1964 style.
Click on the pics makes them bigger. :)

The one with the recess is the 54-58 style.
