rear end compatibility
I was told a long time ago that a 1970ish cub cadet 1200 series lawn mower had the same rear end as a farmall cub. So the million dollar question...is it true? The reason I as is I have them both but was going to scrap the mower.

Re: rear end compatibility
Hi,
They were talking about this lately on here. Here are 2 posts talking about it. At least one has pics of transmissions. If your trans looks like a regular Cub trans, it might be lacking some holes for attaching various things, the 3 holes on the top of the trans, at the rear. Also the one in the pic in the post had no oil fill or oil level plugs where a regular Cub would have them.

Re: rear end compatibility
only an original cub cadet transmission can be interchanged case and all. as Tim said, flip the ring gear and use your top shaft. also, add plugs in the front of the trans, indexing pins, counter shaft cover and PTO.
the rest of the cub cadet transmissions 70, 72, 105, 124, and probably a few more you can use the gear sets and most bearings by swapping the parts into your case.
