Donny: You did a good job on the carbs. I believe I see one difference, but, since your question was to Harold, I will wait to see if he notices the one difference which I see. Good looking carbs. Dan

Agreed!! 8) :P Donny has done a great job. We shouldn't be surprised though. Donny is a great craftsman, at what ever he does. A great big thanks Donny. The "difference" I see is that you were able to salvage the old main jet by re-shaping the nut portion and putting a thin washer behind it??? I wish I had a picture of how stripped that hex was. Nicely done. As far as a song?? Dunno.

You're right about the main jet except for the fact that it's not re-shaped. As you know the jet was shaped like a | and would not seal against the fiber washer on two sides. I turned down the end of the jet to .250" using a poor mans lathe (drill motor) and a file, then silver soldered a drilled out 1/4-20 brass nut to the jet keeping the .75" length of the jet. I was going to use a 10-32 nut to keep the 3/8" hex but I couldn't find one thick enough.
Thanks for the kind words fellas :!: It's really not that difficult...really :!:

Donny: A question: What is the purpose of the zip ties through the manifold bolt holes? To hang them by when drying? To use as handles when you immerse carb in cleaning solution? It is harder than you think. The one you did for me looks as good as the two for Harold. The one I did leaves a lot to be desired. By the way, my guess on the difference between the two was off by a country mile. Dan

I think he is suingt the zip ties to keep the carb to manifold gaskets from getting lost or damaged.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

I believe he soaks them in a muratic acid solution for a while, then uses a brass wire wheel on a Dremel tool. Good results, eh? 8) 8)
