Oil in Distributor
I have a 1950 cub. The distributor seems to get a lot of oil inside. In fact it even drips out. Any ideas on what is going on and how I can fix it. Thanks.

Sounds like seals. before you remove the dist put the engine on TDC top dead center # 1 piston. Remove the dist cap and the rotor should be facing where the 1 for #1 cylinder is imprinted on the cap. Don't turn the engine over at all after this. All this is not crazy important it just makes it easier to put back together. There is a seal in the block where the dist fits in. The book on rudis server will show the breakdown of the dist.

You probably have 2 problems. there is a seal where the drive goes into the engine casting, called a magneto drive seal. that is probably leaking. wehn you replace this sela pauy attention to the manual, it has to be seated a certain depth. this will let oil into the drive unit. there is also an oring in the back of the distributor that should be stopping the oil form migrating form the drive to the inside of the distributor.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
