Check the fuel inlet screen too. Enjoy that fall plowing before the rains get here!

Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor. Then check the fuel flow. If fuel flow is fine, then you will need to remove and clean the carburetor

Some OEM inlet screens have been removed by PO or others. If yours has one it will look like this:

Putting this one to rest. I cleaned the tank out as I already mentioned. The problem was paint chips and rust chips that clogged both the sediment bowl inlet and the needle valve in the carb. Got them cleaned up and added a carb inlet screen (it was missing - I actually didn't know it was supposed to have one!). Filled the tank with non-ethanol gas and I will keep it full to prevent condensation and rust. Tractor is running like a "Sanger Sewing Machine", as my wife's North Carolina cousin would say.

All is good in my Cub world now. Now on to a restoration on my '69 Cub Cadet 106...

Ran the cub during Thanksgiving a bit, giving the grandkids hayrides, etc. All was good when I shut it down. When I went to run it the other day to keep the oil pump primed, the Carburetor began leaking big time at the body gasket. I didn't rebuild the carburetor when I restored the tractor last winter - figured I'd get the good out of it and do it when necessary. I guess that time is now! I'm also pretty tired of having to reach way under the tank to turn off the fuel at the sediment bowl, so since I'll have the carburetor off anyway, I'm going to just be done with it and replace the OEM sediment bowl and OEM fuel line with a modern fuel line with in-line filter and shut-off valve. Not original, I understand. But practical wins out this time!

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas! Go Clemson!

To expand on what Dan said, the carb inlet threads are 1/2-20, not pipe threads. The outlet on the fuel strainer is also 1/2-20, but it sounds like you'll be eliminating that. Fuel tank outlet threads are 3/8 NPT.

And a 5/16 steel brake line with the nut will fit the carb inlet threads. There are several threads on the "HOW TO" Forum that give detailed instructions to do this. Good Luck
