Cub - Gun Slinger?

Postby ricky racer » Mon Sep 28, 2015 6:57 pm

I've been wanting to add something to my Cub to facilitate carrying "things". Sometime the thing can be a pruning saw, sometime a rifle when on wood chuck patrol maybe a my bow. Anyway I considered using these grippers in the past but being the cheapskate that I am, I didn't want to spend the money. Well, a week ago at a tractor show I found a brand new set still in the package for $3.00. You can't beat that! I just needed to figure out where to mount them. This is what I came up with. Is it a good idea or a "hot set up"? Time will tell...

Way cool. For several years, I've been carrying a spade nestled between the "dash" and rear rockshaft on a 140 and a hoe parallel to the rockshaft with the handle of the spade holding the hoe blade in place. I cut1-1/4" wrench and hammer handle just enough to get all the cultivator adjustment tools needed to fit in the tool tray.

Seems the designers at Farmall never quite knew that people on the farm needed a trunk to carry everything needed or wanted out in the field.

So you just back up to a branch and work the TC level back and forth and it cuts the branch?

Neat idea,thanks for sharing,

It's kind of hard on the TC and hard to find a branch the right height but it works.

You've been poaching on my land. That pic looks almost identical to a piece of my property.

Yes, it varies by state. In Mo. it is ok to transport them on a tractor or other farm implement, but illegal to shoot from one. In some states even illegal to use a vehicle or tractor for a rest to steady the gun.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

rig up a wire system to pull the trigger and you can remote shoot using the TC. You can solder on a elevated sight onto the radiator cap and use it like the guns on a WWII fighter plane.
Tractors are like watermelons: the RED is good and you throw away the GREEN.

Yes. Shovel parallel to the rockshaft lift rod. Feed buckets hanging from each rear rockshaft arm. In the field throw an extra bag of fertilizer across the hood/gas tank just ahead of the fuel cap.

Pretty neat idea Rick! Always thinking!

I have noticed that groundhogs in particular pay very little attention to a man on a tractor.
