Supercub Tractor SN to Engine SN information

Postby staninlowerAL » Sun Sep 27, 2015 2:41 pm

I have a 1976 Std Cub, engine SN 31498? with casting code Z that is missing the tractor SN ID plate. Does anyone have information about the Supercub tractor SN as it relates to engine SN? I can get the first and last tractor SN for each year and the casting code letter from the link above and Raymond's database lists engine SN within each year but that's about all I can find. The torque tube casting code is Y so I think it might be an early 1976 production model. All the usual changes including the original decal point to it being a longstripe. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks, Stan

Stan, are you talking about the French Super Cub? That is the only Super Cub I am aware of.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thanks Barnyard. I mis-spoke. Raymond's database page 31 it's listed as "NEW INTERNATIONAL CUB". As you know, Higher engine RPM, timing change, carb/manifold changes and others resulted in increased HP. Thus my error in calling it supercub. Thanks for the help. Stan

Edit to correct title and add some more casting/part number information: Engine part #251341R8, Additional casting codes; Axle housing 2-19-Z, RT and LT finals 3-9-Z, Transmission 3-8-Z, Trans part #543597R1, TC not readable. No hood ornament nor holes in hood for attaching. Head appears to be R1 but part number has been removed and casting code is not readable. Since the latest casting codes are March, 1976, I think it's safe to say it is probably second quarter production. Any thoughts? I would love to be able to get the tractor SN but I don't have much hope of that happening.

The Database is the best resource for engine vs tractor SN comparison. It includes every piece of real info on SN relationships that we have been able to find. If we had more info, it would be in there.
