carb inlet fittings

Postby brichter » Mon Sep 14, 2015 8:40 pm

I have seen and even have a couple on some old cubs but I cannot find a source for the screw in fittings with the hose barb for the carb inlet. Could someone plese share a link to purchase these. I have ordered some compression fittings from TM but being an advocate of rubber fuel lines I like these fittings better. :D :D :D

BR, We all throw those pipe thread fittings away when we helicoil them. Do you think we're going to tell you where to get them?

You can use a 1/2 x 20 fitting from a 5/16 brake line and tap the inside for 1/8 pipe, then use the barb fitting in it. I found that brass is easier to work with to cut the threads

BR, I just did a little more searching and found these. Edelmann 721560 (from Summit Racing), Kuriyama POFMIV-0405 (from Amazon). I've never seen either one, so I'm not sure if either will work or not.

Bob

Edit: If you have a 1/4"npt tap, Stan's solution may be easiest.

I think I used a 1/8" pipe tap like this to make the adapter:

Obviously you have lots of options with the 1/8 npt thread adapter.

I have a carb that the inlet threads were bad. I used a a brake line and double flared the inlet line instead of using a compression fitting. I have taken that carb on and off several times and have never had a problem with it leaking. Not using the ferrule allowed the compression nut to seat new unused threads.
