Questions about 1000 Front End Loader
I have a few questions about the 1000 Loader
1) First question is I just heard it will fit the Cub, Lo-Boy AND Super A 100-140. Is this true ? Is there different brackets for the lo-boy or the A/100-130 vs the cub.
(I was under the impression that it fit ONLY the cub)
2) Is there a difference in how much it can handle ( I mean I heard that the 1000 loader was stronger than the cub... It could break the front ends before it would overload itself) anyone know what the RECOMMENDED limits are for each.
3) any pics of it on a A/100-140 or lo-boy.... love to see it... all I've seen is on cubs...
4) what is average price for em? If its what I think then I might b better off getting a 870 JD w/ front end loader ( need a loader to get manure (chicken, horse and cow from neighbors and load it into spreader) most will be semi-wet to semi-finished drying but none will be totally composted to dry condition.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Questions about 1000 Front End Loader
The front bracket was set up to mount on all the tractors except the 140 which required removal of part of the bracket. There are different sized buckets depending on the size of the tractor. Here's a link to the manual: http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/IH%20I ... Manual.htm

Re: Questions about 1000 Front End Loader
Finally got my loader on the cub today. I've had it for about 2 years. I can definitely understand the appeal. No its not a new compact but its better than a shovel and wheel barrow. I'll try to get pics on. Well worth the wait and the money.

Re: Questions about 1000 Front End Loader
As delivered, the loaders fit all three tractors. When buying one now, you have to be careful about modifications made by previous owners. A 140 WITH A HEAVY DUTY FRONT AXLE requires cutting some out of the front bracket. The modified front bracket will not work on a Lo-Boy. The front bracket on the 140 above has not been modified. If the loader is mounted on a Lo-Boy, the rear part of the main frame isn't used. Since it gets in the way for some other things, many have had the ends cut off. This makes them useless for a 140 (and maybe for a Farmall Cub).
Lifting capacities by tractor model are listed in the manual , pointed to by Bob. There were 4 different buckets. For your use, you probably would do better with the manure bucket.

Mine had the ends cut off and was mounted to the Cub final drives with one bolt (worked but not good for the finals). That problem has since been solved by welding on the necessary steel.

Re: Questions about 1000 Front End Loader
Mine came installed on a Super A. I can't imagine it on the smaller Cub.
If you can figure out how much an IH #311 plow with the coulters and rear bottom removed weighs, that is the limit. The only way I was able to lift that plow was to roll the bucket forward, lift the boom, and roll the bucket back. Trying to lift with the boom was tripping the relief valve in the hydraulics.
If you can figure out how much the tongue of my big equipment trailer weighs with the third ramp and a spare tire on the deck up front, that is also the limit. I had to move the ramp and spare tire to the rear of the trailer, and then it picked up the tongue no problem. The loader made it very handy to shove a 101" wide trailer 20' back into a 107" wide bay. Much easier to see what you're doing vs. being in the cab of a truck looking in a mirror.

Re: Questions about 1000 Front End Loader
My current project using the loader: Had 68 tons of gravel delivered earlier this summer to improve my driveway and barnyard. A broken foot around delivery time hampered progress but it's coming along again. Here is a better pic of the loader on the 140 as requested. Also using Rusty (Cub) with the grader blade to finish it off. But let me tell you if the 140 had hydrostat and power steering it would be 6 times better!

While at it besides the hydostat and p/s, have a full cab w/ a/c a dvd and 60 hp diesel.... LOL j/k I do want Farmalls and love em as these new ones need computers to tell you that your low on antifreeze (trust me my neighbor tested a new J/D n it quit working only to find out it was a little low on antifreeze) worst part was he couldn't do it because once the computer trips a code you MUST get a factory rep to clear the codes.

Re: Questions about 1000 Front End Loader no touch control u
I just picked up a 1948 cub with an international 1000 loader. It runs well and I have been going over it fixing and replacing little things. I have run it to did a small digging project and it did fine. When I got it the previous owner he had removed the touch control unit ( i have it. it came with the sale), replaced the boom cylinder with a double action cylinder, the control valve and added an oil filter. The hydraulics are run straight from the pump on the cub and not the bypass block in the TC as shown in the manual. The only reservoir that in the loader mount. Do i need to add a small reservoir to replace the reservoir in the TC?
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Re: Questions about 1000 Front End Loader
welcome inairam, I can't answer your question as I'm learning about the 1000 loader too. But you might be better off starting a new topic and put your main question in the title so more people who can answer your question will see it and answer. As sometimes ppl here start to read a thread but they don't come back to it if they think its over or only asking for photos. So the ppl that might help you might not see your question here... So welcome again n good luck with your loader

Re: Questions about 1000 Front End Loader
inairam,
No, you do not need to add a small reservoir. The reservoir in the loader holds a few gallons of oil vs. the Touch Control's measly 6 pints.
The reason for the touch control and bypass block is to allow you to use touch control implements while the loader is installed. Of course you are limited to rear mounted implements. Neither the touch control nor the bypass block is necessary to operate the loader.
