Cub Governor followup

Postby Moondoggie » Sat Jul 18, 2015 11:26 am

Does anyone know if Gary Boutwell has posted a follow up to his "Inspection & Repair of a Cub Governor" post? It was just what I needed to attempt a teardown of my 1952 Cub governor. Mine is frozen. All external links and pivot points are free but can't move the throttle or the carb side of the governor links. Also referenced the Parts Database pics and it shows all the internal governor parts. Here's hoping a new link is available :help: ???

It is not unusual for the arm that the hand throttle hooks to to seize on the shat. A little penetrating oil and gentle persuasion usually frees it without removing. Do not get to forceful the lever is easy to break. Spray it, let it set a day or so and sp0-ray again before trying to move it.

Unfortunately, Gary is no longer active on the Forum. Here's a link that might help though: http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/Mainte ... index.html

Thanks, Bob. This is a nice PPT presentation and should help a lot.
