Starting a Cub with a 12 V battery
I have which I believe to be between a 1946 to 1951 Cub...It's been quietly sleeping in the barn for several years. I would like to get it started and cleaned up..I'm sure it's a 6 volt but the battery has long since disappeared..But I DO have a spare 12 volt..Can I hook up the 12 volt to get it running without damaging anything. Thanks for any advice...Pete

If the generator is hooked up you need to unhook it and do not turn on lights.

Why not just go ahead and get a 6V battery? You're going to need one eventually, and they aren't going to get cheaper. Look for a Group 1 or Group 19L battery.

Try NAPA or Tractor Supply.

If he is going to spend several month tinkering with it before he starts to actually use it, it makes sense to not start the clock on another battery.
