Re: Cub never seen tank
What does the hose actually go into?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Cub never seen tank
I went back and looked at the ebay add for this tractor, the owner had the below in the "read more" section and I missed it the first time I looked. Not sure where the small hose would go to though? No good picture to see.
Used
Seller Notes: “Excellent condition. Starts right up, runs smoothly. Mower as well as hydraulic boom function as they should. Lights work. The front tires are new. The rears have cracks but don't loose air and have lots of tread. Recently serviced and has new hoses, clamps and wiring. I have installed a "catch can" made from an air tank, bolted to the optional original sprayer tank location. This catches the mist that would normally come out of the crankcase breather in the oil dipstick, and prevents this oily mist from mixing with dust and coating the engine. The engine now stays clean even after mowing in very dusty areas. While it isn't a show tractor, it certainly is in great shape and is completely functional.”

Translation...Lots of blow-by, so suspect having an engine overhaul, in your future.

Agreed, probably blowby. I can't tell from the picture if it has the crankcase to breather tube on it, the later ones did not. If it does have it, the pipe and fittings are probably plugged.

Re: Cub never seen tank
WOW, what a fancy PCV valve. My guess is the hose drops into the muffler, thinking the exhaust will burn off the oil. Probably drips oil out the tail pipe while running. Yea, too bad he went to all that work covering up the problem instead of just fixing it.

I guess you didn't notice the vertical exhaust?????????????gitractorman wrote:........ My guess is the hose drops into the muffler, thinking the exhaust will burn off the oil. Probably drips oil out the tail pipe while running.........
I am disappointed by his description. I thought sure it burned a "little" oil and this was a pressurized tank with regulated drip to keep the engine filled. He's right though I really do hate having oil sprayed all over my nice rusty, faded and flaking paint on my engine.
