Transmission Spline Shaft
I Do not like oil leaking out of my Cub ! Is it possible to split the tractor at the front of the transmission and then replace the front tranny oil seal WITHOUT getting into the gears etc. in the transmission? for any Help! Just finished both final drives and repainted whole rear end. That front tranny seal has been leaking for quite awhile. Thats my next project, thanks for your input

Re: Transmission Spline Shaft
If you need to replace the front seal there is no need to remove the shaft. Once transmission is removed from the torque tube (sometimes a big challenge) there is a seal retainer mounted with 3 bolts. Remove retainer and slide it all the way off the end of the shaft. Pay careful attention to how the retainer is mounted, it can be installed backward and will let the shaft move forward enough pto will not work.
