In need of some shade

Postby tractordad » Fri Jun 19, 2015 10:13 pm

My wife and I recently purchased a Christmas tree farm and we now have been mowing around trees for 30+ hrs a week on 2 cubs. The sun was starting to get the best of us so I decided to find something to offer shade. The end result is pictured below. I purchased a sun shade for a Craftsman tractor, used a total of 2” of shim sleeves along with a 1” sleeve inside each support tube to prevent it from crushing when tighten up. I also drilled two holes in the seat frame, (I know, I thought long and hard about it first) for more support. It worked very well although it’s not exactly centered. The next one will be shimmed a little different to get the canopy exactly in the middle although it not off by much.

Looks great! That's a lot of mowing. There isn't a new mower you could buy that could handle it like a Cub, unless you dropped big $$$$$$$$.
