The cub J-4 mag has a slot on the bottom flange. It pivots on the top stud and moves in and out using the slotted hole on the bottom flange.

Yes I've watched that and it was helpful until the point of rotating the mag. With the mag that has the top stud the pivot point Seems off and doesn't allow any movement of the mag due to the flange on The mag. I can rock it about 1/32" but that's all the movement I have.

I suspect you have something other than a J-4 magneto. Can you post a picture?
