Cool find. 65 Lo-Boy with Tach and Horn-Almost

Postby Thackery » Fri Jun 12, 2015 7:20 pm

I saw a square nose Lo-Boy on Craigslist with fast hitch and 100 blade, had to look. Brought it home.
Couple of other good additions, tach (not hooked up, unsure of condition), and a strange bracket on the steering post.
Did some searching and found out it is a horn button bracket. Very cool, but I did not find a horn, or the actual button.
On a good note, the Cub runs great, mowed with it last night, quiet, good power etc.
The cable for the tach is missing, but the adapter to the distributer is there.
Anyone know if the cable is available, or made one up as a replacement before?

Hi,
Here are a few pictures from the 1965 Cub Owner's Manual showing the tachometer and horn, and the whole manual, if you need it.
Pages 4 and 26 show the tachometer cable routing some. It should go the way they show. Look closely, the cable is sort of small in the pics.
Page 42 shows the drive, it should be greased like it shows in the info.
Click on the pics makes them bigger. :)

I took the tach off tonight and got it working in just a few minutes.
Does anyone know if the small hole on the upper back is a lubrication hole?

I also asked at the local Case IH dealer and the tach cables are still available, $64.00
The tach is not.

Nice find! Sounds like a good Cub.

Too bad you are so far away, we could throw a 50th birthday party for our Lo Boys.

Thanks for the manual pages, very helpful.

I didn't actually think about it until you mentioned the 50th. I will have to check the serial number against the tracking sheet to see approx. when in 1965.
