Welcome! Like others have said, theres lots of help and advice here. Before you start tearing her apart, I suggest you download or buy the operators and parts manuals and study them. Check both Rudi"s Manuals and the PDF Manuals at the top of the page. I've found the IH Parts Manuals very helpful, the blow apart diagrams really help, and they are great for figuring out what bolt goes where or what size do I need. Don't be afraid to ask questions, no one will think you are stupid and we all have our CRS moments  Good Luck and keep us posted. John

Welcome. We love a new project. If she has been sitting for 30 years, you will need to prime the pump before you try to start her.

Thinks fellows. I have some work ahead. I need a few things.

1) I need a good, clear view of the points and distributor cap

2) where is a good place to purchase parts?

Go to the bottom of the page, click on TM Tractor Parts. At their website, click on new parts, then electrical. They have good pictures of both the cap and points. They are a good source for parts, although they do not carry everything you will need. For used parts, place a "wanted" in the Vine forum or check with JP Tractor Salvage. TM and JP are both forum sponsors and will take good care of you.
