Got to work on the planter attachment. Note to self and others - They engineered the drive clutch shaft to just and I mean JUST come out of the main mounting section. Had to clamp in in the vise and have my strong-arm son compress the clutch spring - at that it just clears.

The labels arrived today! - On they went. In he photo they look like they are not level - I can ensure you they are. :D

Pretty happy with the way this turned out. I added a wee tiny bit of personal flair to the planter lid, by adding the Argent Silver Handle. Wanted it to match the SS Muffler on Rex'48.

Under 60 years of grease I found more original blue than I expected.

The unit is now totally disassembled. All parts ready for sand blasting. Bigger parts are painted.

All - that is left to do - is install the new grease fittings. The clutch unit for the counter-shaft will be primed tonight - pending the weather.

It's coming together.

I disassembled the hopper totally.

1. Cast Iron Pieces Blasted, Primed and Painted - I took some privileges on the inside the hopper parts. The bottom or outside I new for sure was blue because I saw clear evidence.
2. The hopper was power wire brushed especially on the inside bottom half. Self-Etching Primer was used as a protection. Because I need to plant this weekend - I could not clean the whole hopper - winter project.
3. On assembly I greased were the galvanized hopper meets the cast iron base.
4. All bolts were blasted, primed and painted with IH Silver Argent.

Here is the result.

The bottom left lubrication fitting is installed backwards. You are missing a grease fitting on the throw out clutch also.

Din, Ding, Ding, Ding - JoeB wins the 6 keyed plow bolts. Send me a PM with your address. As for the grease fittings I don't install them till after the paint dries. The error of my ways has been corrcted.

It sure goes together easier - with that left lubrication fitting intalled correctly.

Planter is Done Greased and Ready to Plant - So ends the planter portion of this restoration.

I elected NOT to sand blast the chain - I felt I would never get all the grit out of the links. It's well greased now - so it will get oiled before it goes to the field.

The Farmall Cub 101A tertilizer unit is greased and ready to work - there is no good way to photo this one with the hopper attached until it's on the Cub.
