Woods 42 Operation

Postby LeeC » Mon May 04, 2015 11:52 am

I finally got my Woods 42 mounted and tried it out this weekend. It works okay, but at start up those blades go "bang" as they go into position. The whole mower shakes and the force is somewhat disturbing. Is this normal? Is there something I am doing wrong? --Lee

Lee - those are swing-away blades and what you are hearing is them banging against the hub when it first starts rotating. Once they pick up a little speed the centrifugal force causes them to swing out into mowing position.
On the plus side - If you hit something they will swing back without causing damage.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

It is normal. I just got in the habit of letting out the clutch easy, it becomes second nature.
