Hi Guys !
Ok - Our new 1950 cub is in need of a wiring overhaul - the tractor is running good... but the lights don't work ( wires are bare ) and the harness is in BAD shape...
Any recommendations and experience with buying a replacement harness ? I have seen some online... but would appreciate your advice, and any "gotcha's!" with this job.
I feel pretty good about the install - from my day job experience - but want to get the best replacement harness that wont need a bunch of mods...
Thanks !
Paul

Re: 1950 Cub Wiring
I can personally vouch for Porch Electric, very friendly and helpful, and prices are competitive. They have copies of the factory cut sheets, so the harness will be exact for your tractor.
I have heard nothing but praise (and lots of it) for Brillman from the members here, so either would be a good source.

Re: 1950 Cub Wiring
I have heard good comments about Agri-Services at http://www.wiringharnesses.com. Last I checked, you could still get harnesses from CaseIH as well. From CaseIH, you will get the specific harness(s) you ask for, not a "kit" for the whole tractor. They also use modern wires, not the cloth wrapped some of the others make.
Be aware that the harness changed in 1950 (cut-out system replaced with regulator system), check your serial number against the applicability listed in each supplier's catalog.

FWIW, Porch is the same. They sell you only what you need.

If you do order one, make sure you tell them of any mods made from the original...such as a 6 to 12 volt conversion, positive to negative ground, and change from generator to alternator, etc.
I have purchased a harness from Brillmans and was quite happy with it.

Re: 1950 Cub Wiring
When I had RI Wiring (cool place riwire.com) look at a factory harness she said it was acid resistant wire. One from a dealer is probably $70.
