Hey Tucker, Nice Cub, awesome pictures.

My 50 Cub was bought at the big auction in Swanton. It is from a good friends hometown of St. Albans.

Sounds like your neighborhood!

Thanks for the photos.

Hey BW,
I heard about that auction, also heard there was a couple of cubs up there. I work in Swanton, not far from where you were at the auction.

Do you have any pics of the 50?

Thanks,
Tucker

Hey Tucker...When you say "the tires are loaded from the previous owner" I hope they're not loaded with Calcium? Nothin' will rot out your rims faster than that! If they ARE...you can take your Cub to a Co-Op or similiar farm store where they fix farm tractor tires and they can drain them safely and either leave them empty, or replace the fluid with a SAFE, non-corrosive solution,

Where abouts in Vermont did you say you are located? :?

Elliott what would you use as a non-corrosive solution ?
Take a little time to play, you don't grow old as fast that way.

Mac - an anti-freeze solution can be used.

Hey MAC...Your local farm tire store or Co-op will drain out the calcium chloride and replace it with a safe, antifreeze solution that has the same weight characteristics as calcium chloride...but is noncorrosive to your rims and tubes. They can properly dispose of the calcium chloride too :D

Calcium chloride is a slat based solution, so any seepage will corrode the rims form the inside out, ususually noticeable at the valve stem hole. The antifreeze based solutions are not quite as heavy, but in long term are a good investment if wheel weights don't give engough traction.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

John, As my uncle would say about calcum in the tires "the only thing better than Calcum is a torch" He has been in the antique tractor buiness for many years. And has seen alot of rusted out rims.

Tucker, there was 4 cubs in that auction. The two with 'nice' paint jobs both got $2000! One had a fast hitch and one had a 'snow' plow (154). I thought it was pretty pricey for both of them. One was smoking out the oil fill and had NO touch control!

Mine was not running due to fuel problems and I had to finish the yeller one before I started to work on the 50. It was a very rainy day, but it is by far the biggest equipment auction I have ever been to (or heard of) and well worth going to.

Here is a photo http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Bu ... 4358a4.jpg
and the implements (set of cultivators and very used 'snow' plow)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/Bu ... 3ce717.jpg

Possibly we could hook up if I go to the next one? I was only an innocent bystander, my friend was looking for a hay rake (got one) and I was just there for the entertainment value...... Cubs do have a way of following you home.

Looks like a nice deal you got.
I did hear it was a big show, did not make it there, but we had alot of equipment there from our dealership (when I say "our" I mean the one I work at  ).

If you make it back up next year, let me know. And keep us posted on the progress of your latest purchase!

Hey Tucker, just got a notice from Fourtnier's about the August 27th auction.
I looked at the link for the auction http://www.rjfeq.com/FournierSPR.pdf and it was for the spring auction (suprise... my '49' Cub was listed... even though it is really a 50.)

I doubt I will be going, but it is a worthwhile auction if you have the opportunity.
