No, it would have been for pto driven implements such as a rear mounted mower, tiller etc. This style of shield pre-dated the enclosed shafts with ball bearing outer tubes.

Am I the only one that can't see the picture? No url, no little rectangle with a red "X" in it, just blank screen. Must be something about the settings on my computer?

I think the bandwidth limit has been exceeded. The pictures were working last night but now they cannot be accessed. Whenever the host's time limit expires they will be viewable again.

Those pictures are on my ISP, so shouldn't have the bandwidth problem. Try right clicking on the space where the picture belongs and selecting "show picture".

Well the red "X" showed up, but selecting "show picture" just gave a blank screen.
