TC hydraulic pump rebuild on granpas(wifes) cub

I am finally back to working on the cub. I was busy last year building a new barn along with reworking my MF135 work tractor. Fixed all the issues with the multipower/oil leaks and new clutch. Painted as well. My wife said the cub is next so here I am back with some questions. I was having problems with the TC system last year with it not lifting. After starting the cub yesterday when the weather was colder (28 Degree) the lift started working again but was getting weak after things started to warm up. Long story short I am rebuilding the TC hydraulic unit and the hydraulic pump. Pretty much straight forward but need help with a pump part. Upon taking apart the pump housing I noted that the cover bearing spring was broken. It was misplaced between the pump gears and the main housing bearing faces. First picture. Where can I get one of these cover bearing springs or am I going to have to improvise making one out of flat spring steel? I also found this strainer (Pic 3) in the TC unit and added a addition (Pic 2) to removing the sleeves from the main housing. I cut a piece of tubing (Thick wall) and slid it down over the stubby allen wrench. This keeps the wrench from coming out and protects the id of the sleeve.

I just looked on Messick's website. They show the spring as available but not in stock ($8.62). They have the filter strainer in stock ($61.50). Stanton also rebuilt one by using the ends and new screen. Here's a link to his "how to": viewtopic.php?f=141&t=83032

Was there a part # on the spring? I just rebuilt my screen using the old ends and soldering in copper filter screen I had left over from rebuilding the pickup filter in my MF135.

I have some fine mesh, not copper or brass, not rusting. May be stainless. Will try repair before buying a new one.

Well I just checked with Messicks and the part is no longer available. :( Does anyone have a used one willing to part with? :help: I'll have to look at some other solutions.

Thanks for any help.

You can probably get a couple of wave or a curved disc springs from McMaster Carr that will work, but put a wanted ad in The Vine for a spring or parts pump and I am sure you will come up with one.

I thought of going that way but I was able to locate one in CA.
