1977 cub cadet timing
just rebuilt engine and changed rotor on mag but forgot to mark it when I took it off cant get it to run and it backfires though stack

Remove #1 spark plug (front) and hand crank the engine until that cylinder comes up to TDC on compression. Align the timing mark on the front pulley with the pointer. Remove the mag and rotate it to the #1 tower. The drive dogs should line up with the slot in the magneto drive gear. Install the mag and time it.
