10w-90 gear oil and 10w30 motor oil

Postby dblact38 » Mon Mar 23, 2015 5:53 pm

I want to change the fluids on my 1952 cub. My buddy has some extra 10w-90 gear oil for the transmission and 10w30 motor oil for the crankcase. Are these fluids ok to use in my cub? Any info will help ! Thanks in advance

The 10w30 is fine for the engine. I have never heard of 10w90 gear oil.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Me neither, check again, it is probably 80W-90. That's what I use anyway.

I use 140 weight in mine! ----makes them shift much better plus slows down the drive shaft quicker,-- less gear grinding! thanks; sonny
