Re: radiator leak?
Welcome to the forum from Arkansas. Is this a farmall cub? You have posted this in the cub cadet forum. Probably don't have to change the gasket, but I do put a new one on each time. You have to try to determine where the leak is coming from or is the radiator overfilled. A level just above the fins is fine and keeps it from overflowing and appearing to leak.
If there is a leak some folks have have good luck with some of the stop leak and then some folks haven't. Try to figure out where it is coming from.

Some brands of filters come with a new gasket, some don't. I use the NAPA 1153 filter which comes with a new rubber gasket. The Wix brand also comes with a gasket and they make the NAPA filters.

Do you happen to know the part number of the Wix filter? When I go to O'Rielies and start talking about parts for a 1979 Farmall Cub, I only get the deer in the headlights look. Thanks!

51153 Just add a 5 to the front of the NAPA number. The NAPA gold filters are identical to Wix filters except color and decal.

I know the look. That's why I go to NAPA here.

Re: radiator leak?
the radiator does not leak when tractor is off, so am guessing it is overflow hitting on the bottom? thanks jt
