Sea Foam / marvels magic

Postby Luke470 » Sat Mar 14, 2015 12:21 pm

I know I'll probably get many answers and opinions but is something like Sea Foam or Marvels Magic Mystery Oil
A good thing for older tractor engines I've got a 61 cub 46 VAC and a 47 MM-RTI.

Also it's my understanding that Sea Foam and Marvels are similar in what they do. Is that correct?

Thanks!!!

They both are good, and each has it's purpose, but they are different. SeaFoam is a cleaner that is good for removing moisture, loosening and removing carbon build up, cleaning carburetor, etc. Used in oil it will lean up sludge, and clean out the crud in crankcase and help free sticking rings if carbon is their problem. Marvel Mystery Oil is more a lubricant for engine top ends (valves, top area of cylinders, etc. Neither one will fix a worn out engine.

I put both in my gas tank along with an occasional shot of two cycle motor oil. I'm all about the lube.

I like both products. They are essentials for the Cub. :)

I recently decided to try Sea Foam after reading so many Good things about this product. This Stuff WORKS! I can hear my Cub idling much smoother than before I used Sea Foam. It also stabilizes the gas for 2 years. Started using this product in all my power equipment!

This is slightly off topic, but normally spring and fall, I have some left over 2 cycle mix from weed eaters, cultivator tillers, chain saw, etc. that I dump into the tractors before I work them the last time in the fall. I figure the oil may provide a little extra lube on the valves to reduce chances of the ones that don't get used much in the winter sticking.
