Air intake hose?

Postby Dieselrider » Tue Mar 03, 2015 7:55 am

On this 1949 the rubber hose that connects from the air cleaner tube to the carb is less that a perfect fit. Does anyone know what size that hose should be or a source for them? This has the IH carb and not the zenith carb like the 184 has. Thanks.

The sizes are also spelled out in the Parts Catalog.

Because of the larger intake on the Zenith carb it takes a special intake hose. The I/H carbs are a standard size hose.

Is this the carb assembly that uses only 1 hose or the 2 smaller sections? I have the 2 tubes if you have that setup and would be interested. I got them over the summer, but they did not fit the Zenith carb on my 64 Cub since it uses 1 long section of tube for the intake.

One problem I have found with buying universal hoses at auto parts stores is that they are usually radiator type and not air intake type, and after a few months to a year or two the gasoline vapors tend to degrade them. Never had that problem with IH or TM Tractor hoses.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

That's good to know. I think it was just last weekend that I went to a local auto parts store and bought a piece to replace a very worn and loose hose connecting to the carb. Thought never crossed my mind to order one from TM. I'll see how it stands up.
