fan shroud

Postby john2189 » Sun Jan 18, 2015 9:37 am

Im getting ready to paint my 72 that i have been mowing with for the past 6 years and discovered that it has no fan shroud. It has never overheated or lost any anti freeze from boiling over, so should I buy one and put it on or forget about it ?

Depends on whether you are hung up on details. If you are not having problems you can do without the shroud. If you are concerned about "correctness" or just want to improve your cooling efficiency then replace it. If this is primarily a mowing tractor and you are not using it at the moment, now is the time to get one and install it.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Agree with Bigdog, install a fan shroud to increase cooling efficiency.

It is up to you, but this is a good time to replace it. Even if it is cooling well without the shroud, it reduces the chances of getting your finger beat up by the fan. Don't ask why that comes to mind.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Without the shroud you don't have place to hook wire for headlight. I cheated when I put mine on. I split the shroud where it is spot welded. Then slipped it on and riveted it back. Beat taking the fan off. :D

I MAY have an already split shroud from a parts cub. If you are interested, I can check.
It might cost you...hmmm...2 :coffee: :coffee: :D !!
(I actually had wondered why it would have been split...now I know!)
