Fuel Sediment Bowl
Well went out this morning to move the tractor but first fix the Fuel Sediment Bowl fixture as it has always leaked. In fact I think I have had about 3 or 4 of them and they are start leaking after a little use. Most of the time around the fuel turn off value. I was thinking in line this time especially since the cold weather busted the bowl but decided to go back with new original. I was thinking of using plumbers tape on all the fittings while new to see if that will help but don’t see how that is going to improve that gasket on the turn off value. Any ideas on what to do with a brand new one to maybe insure it doesn’t leak before putting it on the tractor. Any special gasket seal or anything. I am tired of buying them and one of the few things I think cub could have done a little better with.

Are you buying your replacements from CaseIH or are you buying aftermarket strainers from Tractor Supply or a similar place?

Re: Fuel Sediment Bowl
Cold weather breaks the sediment bowl only if the majority of the contents of the bowl is water.
Luck favors those who are prepared

Yes, CaseIH still makes them and they are the best ones you can buy, although a little expensive. You can also get them from TM Tractor Parts, one of the forum sponsors. The part number is in their ad. See below...

Re: Fuel Sediment Bowl
If the leak is around the valve stem tighten the packing nut.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

This is a link to my post a few weeks ago, you might find some useful information in it. Note the OEM valve has a double seat that should seal in the "full off" or "full on" position. If you still have a leak when the packing nut is tightened, try removing the nut to expose the cutoff valve shaft. A few turns (4 or 5) of waxed dental floss makes an acceptable packing. Reinstall the packing nut and snug tighten until the leak stops.
