Here's a link to a "How to" by redfin: viewtopic.php?f=147&t=44710 You want to be careful that you don't drill through the cast iron and into the water jacket in the bolster. You should "feel" when the drill bit goes through the broken bolt as there will be about 1/8" of air that it will go through before hitting the cast iron. In the event that you drill off center, you can always enlarge the hole and put in an insert like a helicoil, or a larger bolt that you drill and tap the center of (after grinding the head off).

Bob

Edit: on the right side, you will need extra long bits (aircraft) or a bit extender. If you have a torch, you can heat them up and that may improve the chances of them unscrewing with a left handed bit. DON'T use an ez-out. If you break it off, the job becomes much harder to finish.

I'd echo Bob's advice: on NOT using the EZ out. I purchased a 6" or 8" high speed bit for the right side it worked fine. Use tape on the bit as a depth marker and be conservative; you don't want to drill through the bolster.

I used an ez-out and yep it happened to me how do I fix it? I can still use the other hole for the dog leg.

A previous owner had drilled mine through into the water jacket which I discovered while taking off a dog-let to reconnect my headlight wires. I put a healthy gob of non-hardening gasket-maker (same sticky black stuff I use on water pump bolts on cars) on the bolt and put it back in. No leaks!

I'm not familiar enough with this to know, but could the inner end of the hole be plugged with a short allen head setscrew and some sealant?
