Previously watched other videos where females accomplished work on Cubs.

Females do own and work on their tractors.

More power to females. My wife, daughter, grand daughters and great grand daughter didn't make me say that.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I guess I'll have to see what other videos Steiner's offers. The only thing I wasn't sure about is her setting the fingers at 7/8".

This has gone viral on Facebook. I have not seen where she wedges the front axle. I would be leery of seeing anybody follow this if it is unsafe.

Act now and you can own the Cub in the video. I knew that I had seen it before.

Bob, I caught that also. Were the early cub settings different? I didn't think they were

I thought she did a good job. I have always used the wedges, I did not think it would fall over doing it the way she did it.

I agree, Clint. I thought she did it safely enough. I have found without the wedges the way she has it supported that engine will usually twist some causing bolt holes of two halves to be slightly off.

I noticed that the engine was flopped over to the left after some point in the video. I also want to know how she got the front bolts out of the hood with the grill in place. She also said to use the field terminal to polarize the generator -- wrong.

I am not going to say/do anything to discourage young people (I can say that since I am 40 now!) getting involved with old tractors.

I'm not sure this video has anything to do with encouraging or discouraging young people from being involved with old tractors. However, some of the things pointed out in this thread are pretty glaring to show up in a "how to" video from a major parts supplier.

If the gist was how far women have come, then I agree, women certainly have. :)

Yep, that was my intent Harold. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Yep, there are some things I don't agree with in the video. And I'm sure someone will hopefully give her constructive criticism and she will be back with an even better one! I say Kudos! :-)

I'm not complaining about the young lady or the video in general. I was merely pointing out a safety feature that should be mentioned. She has several good and helpful videos so far on their site and I'm sure we will see more.

I think the young lady did a very good job, much better than I did on the first couple I worked on. I also noticed the same things Jim did, the bolts that attach the hood to the top of the radiator supports were not installed, or the brackets were not there, or she would have had to remove the grill. Also the procedure of polarizing the generator by jumping the bat to the fld. can damage a generator.

In my opinion, not wedging the front axle when the engine is supported in this manner, is not hazardous, but it frequently makes reconnecting more difficult, because the engine will almost always shift to the side. There were some things skipped like the hand lever to governor linkage, and choke linkage, but if people are not smart enough to figure them out on their own they should not be working on a cub anyway.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
