This is not correct is it? I bought a new idler bracket and the holes seem like they are too far apart. Am I missing something?

David, the drawbar mounting plates get sandwiched between that bracket and an outer strap. The bolt holes you see should just clear the drawbar bracket front and back edges.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Sorry - I am slow. I have those two additional rectangular brackets that you mentioned. Those rectangular brackets bolt to the idler bracket right. Just to clarify, does anything get bolted at all to the drawbar brackets or does it just sit there?
And say on the LHS, going from center of tracket to outside you should have idler bracket, the drawbar mounting plate, and then the rectangular brackets?
Is the best way to mount this to take the drawbar brackets off and then sandwich them in between, or just to loosten them or what?

Just position the main bracket like you have it in your pictures with the ends up against the drawbar brackets. Place one of the strap type brackets on the outside of each drawbar bracket and bolt it all together.
From your pictures, you already have it in place. Just add the straps and bolts to keep it there.
