Old Style Touch Contol BlockRebuild
I am rebuilding an old style touch control block Casting number 351686R1 on a 1948 Cub. The old style has some significant differences from the new style. I have searched this sight as best I could for a step by step repair complete with pics.like troop has done for the new style but cannot seem to find anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Otherwise I will document my rebuild and post it as I go.
Thanks,
Joey J.

Joey J.

Re: Old Style Touch Contol BlockRebuild
Joey, Welcome to the Forum. I did see another "How to" but the pictures are not there. If you would take pics, etc. as you do yours it would be a welcome addition. When complete, one of the moderators can lock it in the "How to" forum.

Re: Old Style Touch Contol BlockRebuild
Hello Bob. I also saw the "How to" without the pictures and was disappointed. I rebuilt a new style block a couple of years ago on grandpas' 60 model using troops tutorial. It was excellent. Luckily I took pictures while taking the old style apart and I think I have everything correct. If you don't mind let me know what you think when I get the info. posted.
Thanks,
Joey

Re: Old Style Touch Contol BlockRebuild
I have done a couple TC rebuilds, and just happen to have saved that How To as both a word document and a PDF file. I do not know how to post either of these onto the forum, but would be happy to send the files to anyone who wants them if you PM me.

Re: Old Style Touch Contol BlockRebuild
Sorry all...as it turns out, the TC Rebuild procedure I had copied is for the later block. That How To is still on the forum's How To list WITH photos.
My apologies for false promises!!

Re: Old Style Touch Contol BlockRebuild
Great job Joey. I'm sure one of the moderators will put that into the "How to" forum. I'm printing off a copy to have for the next one I do or help with.

Re: Old Style Touch Contol BlockRebuild
I had to make one of the valve seat tools. I used some (7") of 1" x 3/16" bar stock I had in my bin and spent about 5 minutes on the "precision" grinding to make a 1/16" blade. I used a large adjustable wrench on the flat and had plenty of leverage.
