You are welcome, Mr. Hudson.

Barnyard, Smugmug does charge. The charge was worth it to me since you don't have the advertising to deal with. Crisp and clean. No sizing required before uploading. It should be noted that they do not yet handle RAW format for the photographers amongst us.

Not paid to recommend them. Just really like the service they provide.

Mostly I use the mobile version of the forum with my iphone. Photobucket works great for me. No resizing and no charge. They do have an upgrade at cost if you so desire. And their latest update uploads pics much faster.
And no, I have no financial interest in photobucket :-)

A young guy that I work with turned me on to Dropbox, a free photo/document storage that automaticly backs up every picture that I take with my phone. I ever loose or distroy my phone, my pictures are all backed up. I can access the pictures on my phone or computer as well. I downloaded it to my phone and I really like it. You have to keep in mind that if I can do it, anyone can do it. You can pay for additional storage if needed should you use up the storage in the free version.

There are many posts that include photos that have been and still are very helpful to me. If I could determine which ones were in jeopardy I could save copies of ones I might need. As you can see I do not understand how the system works.
Thanks.

Sorry, I missed this earlier. Yes, all photos in posts on the forum that are hosted in the photohost will disappear. If you have any favorites, you may want to copy them. Once the photohost is ended in the next few months there will only be a small red X where the photo used to be in a post.

Ricky, I don't know about that. I don't even know how to take a picture with my phone. The only pictures that I have on the phone I don't know how they get there, and most are the inside of my pocket. ( I think, because they're black)

Isn't there any way to perserve the photos in the posts? The site will so much accumulated knowledge if the photos disappear. Lots of posts without the use of pictures are useless.

Rick. I am working with the How To's best as I can at this time, but it will require moving every picture onto a new server and then, renaming every picture in each post to match the new server address.

Bill, We won't tell anyone if you only put up 5000 Christmas lights instead of 50,000 in order to save the pictures. :D

Bill, is this something that can be split up among various members to ease the task? Many hands makes light work...
I don't know if I could figure out what to do but if I stumble around long enough, maybe I could figure out how to do it. I'm sure there are others here that would be more then happy to help perserve the photos on the website.

I am happy to announce that the photo host WILL NOT BE SHUTTING DOWN this spring! Please see this post for details.

lildog wrote:After much consideration, I have decided to shut down the photos.cubfest.com photo host next spring when my current hosting plan expires. When I started the host, there weren't many options for posting photos to this forum. Today, free and affordable cloud and photo storage is abundant and the forum itself supports images in new ways. On top of that, the costs of running the host have increased as has the effort to keep it running efficiently and securely, while use and financial support has decreased.

You have until March 31, 2015 to save any photos currently on the host that you'd like to save. After that date, you will not be able to access your photos, and existing links to photos on the host will no longer work.

Thank you to everyone who has helped support the photo host over the past 10 years. It would not have been possible to provide this service without the generous support of so many members, and I certainly enjoyed providing it. I apologize for any inconvenience this decision causes.
