While I wait

Postby Smcgath » Tue Oct 28, 2014 11:43 am

The steering box is leaking on my sons cub and wouldnt you know it's the lower seal  I've looked in to how you need to change it. My question is do you have to take the radiator off or can it be done without removing all of that ?

just jack up the tractor and drop the front axle then the steering gear, do not have to touch anything under the hood

Well went out and started to work on the front end and noticed that there was alittle movement around the bottom of the steering box after checking the bolts all of them were lose 2 of them I could tighten up with my fingers what are the chances that the seal won't need changed

Odds are 50-50. You can just tighten the bolts and see what happens. If you already have it half apart then you might as well continue.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

gasket is probably beaten out of it, make sure the dowel pin that holds it in position is not missing
