Cub Fun - Chasing An Electrical Ghost!

Odd - So you get the hood on after you confirm all is working - Then you make a nice little video of the 1st drive when you notice that your Cub is discharging. Pull it back to the shop and try all manner of contortions to follow the testing chart w/o removing the hood. Guess what the hood is off again. Using the testing matrix the issue is isolated to an INTERMITTENT Problem with the voltage regulator. It was working when the hood went on and after - then last night it wasn't working.

When I hooked Terminal F to Battery Ground Post - I got charge - Upon removal I got a good size discharge - Put the wire back on I got charge - Take the wire off it's still charging - I'm not lost on this one it's clearly the voltage regulator. New one order from Brillman along with the Dimmer Coil.

Cubs - Back on the pony Tank - Hood Off.

Ha, yea, I HATE electrical work!!!!

I've got a Cub Cadet 1811 in my shop now from my hunting camp. All the guys at the camp said, oh, it just needs a PTO switch. One weekend out, brought a new PTO switch, nothing fixed. Then they said, oh it just needs a new relay, so ordered that ($35.00  ), next weekend out, replaced relay, nothing fixed. Finally, last weekend took my trailer out and brought the damn tractor home to my shop. In about 30 seconds I figured out that the PTO clutch was fried, dead short to ground. Unfortunately, that's a $250 part    Did I mention that I HAT electrical work!!!!!

Good luck,
Bill
