I'm borrowing my ladyfriend's brothers splitter this week-end. I, too prefer a maul, but the wood left behind at my new residence is so hard that the maul barely even dents it.

My woodshed is 2x as much is I need so I am always burning 1 year old seasoned wood. what I cut this spring is for next winter (not this winter). I am way too impatient to split with a maul..like to hit it hard in the spring as soon as the snow is off the ground and get that woodshef full as soon as possible.
