Re: PTO wont engage
A common problem is that the pin on the end of the lever that moves the clutch forward and back to engage the shaft may be worn so thin that the clutch doesn't move enough to engage. Remove the fill plug and with a strong light see if you can see the round clutch moving when the lever is moved.

Re: PTO wont engage
If this is one you recently bought and have not used before, it is also possible that the last person who had it apart did not get the pin engaged in the slot of the pto clutch properly, or that the clutch may not even be in place on the shaft.

you are part of the problem!!!

Re: PTO wont engage
I bought one that the pto didn't engage in. Tranny bearings were totally gone (Balls and rollers, in the bottom of the tranny case) so the shafts didn't align. Is the transmission noisy?

Re: PTO wont engage
All solid replies…Definetly take the fill plug out and see whats going on in there…That will give you a start…..Also any resistance on the lever….Or is it sloppy…Dave
