D.O.T. Cub

Postby Kodiak » Fri Jul 08, 2005 8:01 pm

I think the more my Dad gets done to this Cub the more I believe it a was a Department of Transportation Cub. It has had 3 good coats of paint, the orginial was red and then there was a dark yellow and finally a lemon yellow (my Dad hates) but the reason for this post was to identify the bracket on the fender and the ring welded to the floor. I think it was a fire extinugisher? Anyone ever seen one or have a photo of one? Other ideas?

Thanks Ron
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

Makes sense to me. Unless that's where they mounted the Nitrous bottle.

Fire extinguisher :!: Saw tons of installs like that in pickmeups and other vehicles in the military - especially the older ones from the late 50's thru to the early 70's.

Would make sense - government regs pretty much require fire extinguishers on all vehicles or motorized equipments with a seat.

Why only DOT? Don't forget the recent postings about USN cubs. The military probably cuts more grass than the DOT.

The bracket is for a fire extinguisher. I hope the Cub is restored back to its D.O.T. appearence, not converted to a "plain" Cub....
