I grew up in the 80's. The last decade where a child could be a child.

Depends where you grew up I think. I was born in 88 and rode 806 flat top fenders and other tractor drawbars all the time doing chores. Granted, we stayed off the drawbar when using implements- that is asking for death. Dad always made sure we were paying attention and holding on firmly. Of course if we would have had a wheel fall off, it would have been bad, but regular maintenance helps mitigate that.

The dangers of life are very real but I think there are ways to do many things safely. I will never let anyone ride along with me on the cub unless they fit on my lap and I'm not doing any work, or they can stand on the drawbar and I'm not doing any work. The cub is just to small to be safe for passengers in my opinion.

I built a passenger seat on my M for my wife and used it at our wedding and on a couple tractor drives. Again if the wheel would have fallen off, it would have been bad. But if the wheel falls off a car, it can be pretty bad too. Life is full of calculated risks.

A picture of my Dad giving his grandsons a "ride on the tractor". Still a little "iffy" but I think it's much safer than on the tractor...
