1957 LoBoy emblem

Postby staninlowerAL » Wed Sep 10, 2014 8:35 pm

While looking at pictures for the correct side emblem for 1957 LoBoy, I have only found some for 1957 std cub which shows FARMAL CUB but I've not found a picture of 1957 LoBoy. The 1957 LoBoy that I have has INTERNATIONAL CUB so I'm wondering which is correct or maybe the LoBoy had INTERNATIONAL CUB emblems while the std cub had FARMALL CUB. Anyone want to help with an explanation? Thanks

That is correct. The standard Cub also had a small McCormick over the Farmall Cub. The Lo-Boy did not. The holes on the Lo-Boy were unused.

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I also have not noticed the vertical LOBOY emblem on the dogleg on any other year models. Is it unique to the 1957? I don't know why this matters other than just my curiousity. BTW I have located a deluxe seat to replace this monstrosity and I'm working on cleaning everything up. The Bush Hog 412 mower cuts very well and the engine appears strong, runs well (3/4 scale oil pressure at idle rpm after warmup), PO had changed to Delco 10SI alt. Biggest challenge so far is to find and stop the oil leaks and renew the paint as well as rubber. Here's the opposite view.

Your '57 would be similar to my '55 (yours would have the white in the emblem area) and as Don noted, the LoBoy would not have anything in the holes above “International Cub” emblem. I see the “McCormick” emblem there on LoBoys, guess just to fill the holes; mine had one on it when I got it. The "LoBoy" on the doglegs is not unique to '57, it started in '55 when the LoBoy started

Stan,
I had a '57 LoBoy that I sold a few years ago.

Here is a photo sent to me by the new owner after he did a full restoration.

...as I noted in my initial post, this is not my LoBoy anymore. It did not look like this when I had it. The new owner did a beautiful job on this LoBoy, and I agree - the '57's are the best looking! (IMHO)
I hated to get rid of it as my Cub is a '57 and they would have made a real nice pair.

That is or was Tom Peters tractor. He restored another in yellow, almost identical.

Indy61,
Yep, same tractor. The picture you posted is when I loaded it up to deliver it to Art Chester. He brought it to a Plow Day in PA. From there it headed to Tom. Looks a whole lot better after Tom got done with it. :applause: ...and in this picture on my trailer it looks a whole lot better than when I bought it up near Cecil's.

Never really noticed the paint scheme on a '57 LoBoy before but both the before and after pictures immediately above ( :? sorry lost track of who's it is) the front hubs are red and the rear hubs are white. Is this the "correct" colors? Just seems odd to me.

Here's an official IH photo from the Wisconsin Historical Society website. The tractor pictured on the far right is a 1957 Lo-Boy.

My 57 original paint currently under resurrection has red front hubs with a tad of white over spray on the backside of the hub, the rear hub is white on the outside but red with white over spray on the inside, could have been an assembly line mask and spray thing, all thou that probably be harder than to just spray the rims separate .

Don thats a nice pic 8) any chance its reproduced somewhere :?:
